Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016
Dear Friends of the League,
The turkey has been carved, the doorbusters have been bought, and many of the online sales have expired, but of course we are not even close to the end of the pre-holiday festivities. The shopping and gift giving activities do not end with Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or even with today’s Cyber Monday. Just as a reminder, Tuesday, November 29th is Giving Tuesday. It is the designated time of year when hopefully people will be turning their spending into donating. Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holidays and end-of-year-giving. The effort to shift the focus of the holiday season from receiving gifts to giving them to charitable organizations has been gaining steam over the past five years.
So what does this all mean to the League? We are on target to drop our Holiday Appeal mailing this week…certainly no later than December 4th, 2016. I would would like to not only ask you to support our Holiday Appeal 2016, but please share the word on your social media accounts with family, friends, and business associates. As we approach Giving Tuesday, my hope is that it not only inspires more days of giving back, but that it draws attention to giving added care to family, friends, and neighbors, and of course, needy animals.
